FSHS Clubs
The curricular areas of math and science show exemplary pride in performance in events such as the Math Field Day, which promotes so much interest that the school fields two teams and annually win the competition placing the majority of scholars in the top ten. The math honorary, Mu Alpha Theta, tutors students, and the Science Bowl team regularly participates on a high level.
Many students daily demonstrate caring for others through collecting food or other necessities for those in need,
sending cards, letters, supplies, and toys to soldiers in Iraq;
and donating items to the National Honor Society “Protect Our Pets” campaign for the Humane Society.
A school-wide initiative to promote awareness of staying fit,
an assembly with the theme of “Don’t Just Live: Live Strong”
presented the Lance Armstrong Foundation LIVESTRONG bracelets to over 1000 participants encouraging an active lifestyle and community giving.
Always actively involved in the community, Fairmont Senior High School holds the Hands Across the Campus event to raise money for the United Way of Marion County.
Coupled with the efforts of the Bible Club to collect t-shirts for the impoverished areas of Jamaica, and the Key Club’s efforts to aid the Salvation Army, by giving $700.00 worth of gifts for the adopted family of 6. Members also dressed 50 bears and filled 50 stockings to be given to less fortunate members of the community.
The Thespians Trick-or-Treat in the Loop to donate canned goods to the Soup Opera and Union Mission.
The Key Club sends volunteers to help during Watson After School, an elementary school tutoring program.
Mrs. Butcher-Ice and the Interact have collected app. $2000.00 each year for over a decade for the Dress an Angel program, which identifies several dozen students at the school and provides gifts and food for the entire family at the holiday season.
The Renaissance project honors students and faculty for exemplary effort and encourages students to do good deeds and volunteer acknowledging that FSHS enjoys giving back to the community.
Clubs meet on the first and third Wednesday of the month in October, December, February, and April.
Polar Clubs will be held on the first Wednesday of those months and Bear Clubs will be held on the third Wednesday of those months.
